A taste of India, Lawrenceville Pa

12 June 2009 Comments

I’m a great fan of indian cuisine and while my own home cuisine certainly isn’t restaurant-quality, every time I find a good indian restaurant I find myself getting creative in the kitchen. Coincidentally my workplace just moved to Lawrenceville and luckily A Taste of India http://www.lawrencevillecorp.com/directory/businessPage.php?business_id=206  is nearby.
You might not think anyone is home behind all the window signs in this little restaurant tucked right in on Penn Avenue but as I found out the other day in the midst of a gray rainstorm, A Taste of India is open for business. The main offering is the very reasonable lunch buffet with both vegetarian and meat offerings as well as salads and dessert, but a full and varied menu is offered and I walked in for takeout only, choosing a regular portion of channa masala http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chana_masala  I opted for the medium spicy version and a sweet lassi (made with rose water).
I was well-impressed for my $11.00 and coin- the service was lovely and quick and the portion was quite generous (I got 4 portions of channa masala and rice, one of them for breakfast this morning :) ) as well as being spiced just right and the lassi had just the right amount of tart and sweetness to it.
A Taste of India is located at 4320 Penn Avenue (near Penn-Main) in Lawrenceville and is open for lunch Monday through Thursday 11:30-2:30 and dinner 5:00-10:00, Saturday for lunch 11:30-2:30 and dinner 5:00-11:00 and Sunday dinner 5:00-1000.
